Houyem
Ghattas
Houyem Ghattas is a young and talented violinist who after an academic career who took her through the conservatory and the higher institute of music chose to leave aside the classical violin to approach more contemporary and improvised styles such as Blues and Jazz thus returning to her first love since her father is a drummer.
She doesn’t deny her oriental influences which, she says, come from within, without thinking too much about it.
Houyem is an artist of multiple influences since she listens to all genres of style which means that we can listen to certain African tunes on songs such as Call
In addition to her personal compositions, she has tried several experiences including, for example, Lamma Slam (a monthly meeting of Tunisian slammers).
She accompanies singers such as Yasser Jradi and Sabri Mosbah, who won three awards at the last musical days of carthage.
She participated in Flowers of “In The Mood for talent”, a fashion show of Tunisian creative artists for which she writes an original music which marries the influences and the “moods” of the different outfits.
She is a composer, violinist but also singer, with a voice both warm and voluptuous, her interpretation of Wade in the Water gives a lot of pep to the original work of Ella Jerkins.
